The Sales Manager for Bug Bite Thing will play a critical role in growing the business for Bug Bite Thing. Working directly for the President this position will be responsible for Bug Bite Thing’s sales planning and execution. This role is both tactical and strategic in nature and will continue to expand as omnichannel, wholesale and e-retail evolves. The Sales Manager role will be key to scaling more strategic projects and accounts within Sales while contributing directly to Bug Bite Thing’s long term business goals.


Highly Analytical & Numbers-Driven: Able to interpret and communicate shopper and consumer data and optimally integrate them to tell fact-based stories to drive category solutions. Ability to dig into the reason behind the numbers and corelate what is driving the results into your sales strategy and guide the team accordingly.

Sales Management & Team Leadership: Experience leading and managing a high-performance nationwide sales team to achieve sales targets. Expertise in the management of Big Box business processes such as cross-manufacturer reset process, new-item cut ins, category reviews, segmentation, digital initiatives, and divisional-level insights.

C-level Forecasting & Strategy Development: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts. Conduct Business Reviews to refine inventory forecasts and promotional planning. Develop, implement, and drive profitable sales strategies and initiatives. Development and implementation of accounts; overall strategy; this includes translating retailer problems and needs into a Bug Bite Thing opportunity and monitoring on-going execution to optimize learning and success.

Effective Presentation & Negotiation: Deliver persuasive presentations based on data-driven insights and facts to gain support for business strategies and/or initiatives. Negotiate and close agreements with large customers. Provide timely and effective communication and solutions aligned with stakeholders’ vision to include market dynamics, competitive environment, progress against business plans, sales strategy, and business opportunities

Excellent Communicator & Planner: You clearly communicate and translate plans, strategies and expectations into actions that work. You create initiatives to deliver against vision and goals, prioritize initiatives and secure and allocate resources accordingly. Develop specific action plans with goals, timing, and accountabilities for your sales team.

Customer Service Oriented & Relationship Development: You are obsessed with customer service maintaining a long-view focus for account planning and expansion. You aspire to develop and maintain successful relationships with large, distributed customers and key personnel in assigned customer accounts as well as become a trusted advisor to buyers and rep firms.

Collaborative: Collaborate with and lead several cross-functional teams such as Product Development for new customer specific line of products and Marketing to align marketing and sales strategies. Guide and assist teams in development and execution of channel marketing initiatives – in-store experience, floor

Opportunistic: You take ownership of day-to-day account management, with an opportunistic eye for account growth. You perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities. You stay up to date with new product launches and ensure sales team members are on board. You are constantly looking for ways to improve and seek creative solutions to break barriers.

Sales & Retail Specific: Monitor product assortments, sales, and inventory positions of all accounts, to ensure optimum sell-through as well as sell-in. Land, implement & develop select retailers across different channels of trade. Work alongside the retail management team and finance to negotiate terms, discounts, freight and return requests in line with internal goals. Lead current initiatives and deliver opportunistic growth pitches, and travel to retailer HQ. Attend tradeshows and travel as needed to foster relationships with buyers & reps.

Software: Proficient Microsoft Office 365 – Excel, PowerPoint and G Suite, Experience working in Retail Link and other Big Box Portals


  • Degree preferably in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related major
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Effectively proven experience to manage large complex accounts with multiple ship-to-locations; understanding of export markets and requirements
  • Practical yet effectual ability to work well with numerous personality traits and styles
  • Ability to work independently using proven sales processes, successful negotiating, and persuasion skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and effectively coordinate multiple tasks within time constraints
  • Proven talent to close the sale

This is not a remote opportunity. This position works in the office Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm EST.
