No refrigeration needed, simply simply placed the tick in the provided specimen bag. If it was stored in alcohol or other chemicals, testing can usually still be done, but we recommend avoiding chemicals when possible.
Yes. The kit is designed for ticks removed from humans or animals. Always follow safe tick removal guidelines before using the kit.
For the most accurate results, we recommend mailing the tick within 24-48 hours of removal. However, dried or deceased ticks can still be tested as long as they are intact.
Once your tick arrives at the lab, results are typically available within 1-3 business days. Most results are delivered within 24 hours of your sample arriving at our lab.
Yes. You will receive a confirmation via email when your tick is received at the lab, depending on your selected contact preference.
Results are sent to you electronically to the email address you provided on your registration kit.
The test only identifies whether the tick was carrying pathogens. It does not diagnose infections in humans or animals. Consult a healthcare provider for personal diagnosis or treatment.
Yes. If the tick is found to carry a disease-causing organism, you should share the results with your medical provider for guidance of the next steps you should take.

Each kit is intended for testing one tick. However, if you have additional ticks you would like to include for testing, you may purchase additional tick tests during the registration process. Please place each additional tick in a separate sealed zipper-lock bag (a standard Ziplock bag is acceptable) and label each bag with the same information as on the provided specimen bag in your kit.
